Rhythm by the River: A Festival Celebrating Black Voices

Event Details

The most exciting and innovative Black voices in Broward County take center stage at Esplanade Park, featuring live performances and interactive events for the entire family. On the main stage, Lauderhill Steel Ensemble kicks off the afternoon’s concert lineup with calypso flair. Jazz saxophonist Randy Corinthian is joined by talented musicians with a soulful and sophisticated set of upbeat smooth jazz hits. South Florida’s favorite roots reggae band Jah Steve & the Counteract Crew is set to blend sweet reggae tunes that will get the audience on their feet. Emmy nominated singer/songwriter and impact artist Alexander Star, who most recently appeared in the Tournament of Roses Parade, performs as the day’s grand finale.

Additional festivities include free arts and crafts and interactive games in the Baptist Health Activity Zone as well as food trucks and a variety of free community workshops held in the Broward Center’s Mary N. Porter Riverview Ballroom Rhythm by the River is part of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ Arts forAction: Black Voices initiative, co-presented by Baptist Health and JM Family Enterprises, Inc., which focuses on how the arts and artists can be a force for change in addressing critical issues of social justice and racial equity.
