BROWARD CENTER SPOTLIGHTS

Broward Center Spotlights is a performing vocal ensemble for students who love to sing in front of an audience. This audition-based musical theater program trains students to perform solos, duets and group numbers along with choreography for various Broward Center and community events. Team-taught by a professional music director and choreographer, students gain top-tier instruction in song and dance, musicianship, improved vocal technique and song interpretation, and build dance skills and stage presence using some of Broadway’s greatest songs. Past appearances include Christmas on Las Olas, Trick or Treat on 2nd Street, live television shows, Coffeehouse Cabarets and Broadway at the Beach. This class culminates with a public performance in a special 10th Anniversary Student Spectacular in the Amaturo Theater.

Class fee includes a Broward Center Spotlights t-shirt.

Note:
Auditions for the Broward Center Spotlights will be held, in-person, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Students will be notified of acceptance by e-mail. Decisions will be made by August 27. Classes are weekly from September 7 through December 16. Additional rehearsals and performances are scheduled as community appearances are booked. Class fees apply.

ADVANCED MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP

GRADES: 4 – 12 | BY AUDITION ONLY

In this advanced-level class, students develop musical theater skills on a pre-professional level by strengthening techniques in singing, dancing and acting. Each week students focus on specific skills and receive top-tier instruction from our teaching artist professionals. Students explore acting methods, script analysis and how to create strong characters. For dance, students work on stretching and flexibility and study various musical theater dance styles. Singing instruction focuses on expanding healthy vocal technique, learning music theory, and developing skills to build a character through song. Students integrate skills and gain confidence as strong and engaging musical theater performers. This class culminates with a public performance in a special 10th Anniversary Student Spectacular in the Amaturo Theater.

PERFORMANCE MENTOR PROGRAM: NARNIA

GRADES: 3 – 12 | BY AUDITION ONLY | $485

THURSDAYS 6:00 – 9:00 PM & SATURDAYS 3:00 – 6:00 PM

Advanced techniques in acting, singing and dance are integrated into the rehearsal process and culminate in a full-length musical production. This unique performance experience offers students the opportunity to study and perform alongside adult professional actors.

Narnia is a breathtaking musical production that whisks audiences away to a magical land of wonder and enchantment. Based on C.S. Lewis' beloved novel "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," this spectacular show brings to life the timeless tale of four siblings who discover a secret world behind a wardrobe, where they join forces with the lion Aslan to defeat and save Narnia from eternal winter. With stunning costumes, sets, and special effects, the show is a visual feast that will captivate audiences of all ages. With its themes of courage, sacrifice, and redemption, Narnia will leave audiences of all ages spellbound and inspired.

*Students perform during a Broward County Public school day and will have to miss a day of school..

To sign up for an audition, please e-mail Nina Felice and provide the following information:

Parent/guardian contact name, phone number and e-mail. 
Auditioner’s name, phone number, email and age.
Preferred audition date and time on the hour (example: Aug 25 at 4:00 PM).

Note:

You will receive an email to confirm the date and time of the audition and directions for what to bring and prepare. Audition results will be provided via email. Decisions will be made by Aug 27. Once acceptance is announced, students will receive a class registration link and must register for the Performance Mentor Program class by September 5. 

Students are committing to perform in public performances. All registrations must be made by September 5. If spots are still available after September 5, we will start accepting students from the waitlist. Students must be able to attend all mandatory rehearsals and show dates. 
NO credits, transfers or refunds will be provided.
