THE BROWARD CENTER AND THE PARKER UNWRAP CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Just in time to celebrate Christmas in July, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and The Parker now have tickets on sale for upcoming holiday events.

Audiences are promised a Dickens of a good time with seasonal favorites and hits from Christmas past performed by Herb Alpert & Lani Hall, Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits and Rick Schuler singing chart toppers by John Denver. Film and music fans on anyone’s holiday list will enjoy tickets to Disney in Concert Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas as the South Florida Symphony Orchestra performs the score at a live screening. Now is the perfect time to schedule the holiday family outings to Baby Shark Live: The Christmas Show!, which brings favorite characters to life on stage, and to the amazing holiday feats found in Cirque Dreams Holidaze!  JM Family Enterprises Smart Stage Matinee performances of Holiday Traditions Around The World and The Nutcracker make learning both fun and festive.

Disney in Concert Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas will screen the haunting holiday classic with Danny Elfman’s score performed live by South Florida Symphony Orchestra in the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center on Friday, October 28 at 8 p.m. From the mind of Tim Burton comes the story of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown's pumpkin king, who plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role after he accidentally stumbles on Christmastown. But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry. The Broward Center in partnership with South Florida Symphony Orchestra present this event as part of the 2022/2023 Broward Center Dance and Classical Series. The Broward Center and Emory Entertainment present A Rocky Mountain High Experience® Christmas Show starring Rick Schuler in the Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker on Saturday, November 26 at 8 p.m. This magical and enchanting holiday show features favorite John Denver hits including “Rocky Mountain High," "Sunshine On My Shoulders," "Take Me Home County Roads," "Leaving On A Jet Plane," "Annie's Song" and "Thank God I'm a County Boy." Schuler also wondrously weaves in heartwarming inspirational carols and holiday classics from Denver’s memorable TV specials and Christmas albums including "Aspenglow," "Away in a Manger," "Silent Night," "Joy to the World," "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire," "Let it Snow" and "Silver Bells." Tickets are $59.

JM Family Enterprises presents the Smart Stage Matinee Series presentation of Holiday Traditions Around The World on Wednesday, November 30 at 10 and 11:30 a.m. in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center. In this fast-paced rollicking musical, recommended for grade levels K-3, students take a joyous around-the-world tour of the dances, songs and stories from Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and many other traditions. Young audiences will sing, clap and tap along as they learn new and old traditions, customs and folklore in this wonderful jubilee that creates a memorable and heartwarming experience as it celebrates the mosaic of cultures that surround us. JM Family Enterprises Smart Stage Matinee performances are curriculum-driven and align with state standards, which are ideal for private, public and parochial school students and home-school networks. Two legendary icons celebrate classic moments from their music careers and selections from their holiday album when Herb Alpert & Lani Hall – A Christmas Wish comes to the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center on Friday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. Boasting an amazing 10 GRAMMY® Awards between them, the duo is responsible for a string of classics stretching back more than 50 years. A world-class trumpeter, Alpert first made a name for himself with his Tijuana Brass ensemble and has gone on to sell more than 70 million records, be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and receive a 2013 National Medal of Arts. He has three recordings inducted in the GRAMMY Hall of fame: “Herb Alpert Presents Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66,” "The Lonely Bull" and "A Taste Of Honey." A jazz vocalist, Hall found success when she teamed with Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66 for hits like "Mas Que Nada" and unique takes on Beatles numbers such as "The Fool on the Hill" and "Day Tripper.” Tickets are $55-$65.

An Olde English Christmas with Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone in the Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker on Friday, December 9 at 8 p.m. unwraps a night of classic hits and holiday favorites. At the age of 15, Noone achieved international fame as "Herman," lead singer of the legendary pop band Herman Hermits. The band sold more than 52 million records including14 singles and seven albums that went gold with top hits such as “I'm Into Something Good,” “There's Kind of Hush,” “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter” and “Wonderful World.” Tickets are $40-$70.

Baby Shark and Pinkfong journey into the sea for the holidays to sing and dance through everyone’s favorite songs in Baby Shark Live: The Christmas Show! on Thursday, December 15 at 6 p.m. in the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center. This one-of-a-kind experience will have fans of all ages dancing in the aisles as they join Baby Shark and friends for exciting adventures into the jungle and under the sea to explore shapes, colors, numbers and so much more. This dazzling kids’ spectacular includes the song favorites "Baby Shark," "Five Little Monkeys," "Wheels on the Bus” and "Monkey Banana Dance" as well as “Jingle Bells” and other holiday classics. This family friendly event is part of The Islands of The Bahamas Imagination Series. Tickets go on sale July 21 and are $29.50-$55.50 with $10 lap tickets for children 12 months of age and younger. A $50 post-show experience is also available to meet the cast.

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents The Nutcracker in the Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker. The most popular ballet enjoyed by audiences around the world during the holidays, The Nutcracker is also one that also serves as an introduction to ballet for young audiences. Company artistic director Vladimir Issaev choreographs and directs the classic ballet to Tchaikovsky's popular score. Based on the tale of Ernst Hoffmann, the ballet is guaranteed to entertain any age with its engaging choreography - from the fun of the party scene to the harrowing battle scene to the enchanting kingdom of the sweets. This awarded professional company features their own ballet stars performing the principal roles, as well as a community cast made up of local character artists and children. Performances are Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 18 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $50 with $5 lap tickets for children 12 months of age and younger. The Nutcracker is also presented as part of the JM Family Enterprises Smart Stage Matinee Series on Friday, December 16 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $10 with $3 lap tickets for children 12 months of age and younger. Cirque Dreams Holidaze! lights up the stage in this awe inspiring and eye-popping family holiday spectacular in the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center on Wednesday, December 28 at 8 p.m. and Thursday, December 29 at 2 and 8 p.m. As lights dim and music plays, a fantastical cast of holiday characters come to life presenting an elaborate wonderland in this annual tradition that wraps a whimsical, Broadway-style musical with contemporary circus artistry into the ultimate holiday gift. Reindeer, penguins, elves, jesters and ethereal aerialists balance, juggle and stretch imaginations. Artists and cirque acts perform original music along with new twists on popular favorites as they amaze audiences with soaring acrobatics, gravity-defying feats and lively theatrical production numbers. This family friendly event is part of The Islands of The Bahamas Imagination Series. Tickets are $29-$79 with $128 Spirit Club Level tickets.
