HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

FAQ's & General Information

Parking Information

  • Broward Boulevard and nearby areas are currently undergoing major road construction. Please check route maps ahead of time and give yourself plenty of time to arrive at the venue.
  • Parking is available at the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District Parking Garage located on the corner of SW 5th Avenue and SW 2nd Street. Parking is $10 per vehicle (on select days). Parking is first come, first served and we cannot guarantee access to all vehicles attending the graduation. Pay-for-parking is strictly enforced!
  • Parking is strictly paid through the ParkMobile App, Zone 12333. More information regarding parking can be found on: www.browardcenter.org/visit/parking/
  • Pay-for-parking via ParkMobile is strictly enforced and subject to ticketing!
  • There are other private lots and street parking near the Broward Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA) should you choose not to park in the A&E Garage. Additional parking garages can be found on: www.browardcenter.org/visit/parking/
  • Valet Parking Services will not be available for any of the graduations.
  • Guests with mobility issues may use our Skywalk that connects the venue to the A&E Parking Garage.

Venue Information

  • All guests (regardless of age) must have a ticket to enter the facility – No exceptions!
  • The theater opens its doors one (1) hour before each ceremony (rain or shine).
  • Seating is general admission and saving of seats for other guests is not allowed. Please plan to arrive together as a group to allow other guests access into the theater.
  • Broward Center for the Performing Arts does not have access to additional tickets – please consult with your school regarding any ticketing questions.
  • Concessions will be available before the ceremony for purchase on the outside terrace bar of the Au-Rene Theater.
  • Per each school and School Board of Broward County school policy, the following items are strictly prohibited from entering the Broward Center premises: balloons, noise makers, firearms, knives, weapons of any kind, laser pens, signs, banners, oversized bags, outside food and beverage, including water, cans, bottles, alcohol, drugs, monopods, tripods, selfie sticks, SLR cameras with telephoto or zoom lenses.
  • For your safety and the safety of others, all guests must walk through metal detectors and bag checking prior to entry.

CEREMONY INFORMATION

  • Graduation ceremonies start on time and may run up to 2 hours.
  • Late arriving guests may be asked to wait in the lobby until the graduate processional and national anthem have concluded.
  • Once the ceremony is over, most high schools require graduates to return their gowns to receive their diploma. In these situations, any pictures with graduates in gowns must be taken before the ceremony. Once the graduate enters the building, they will not be allowed back outside (check with your individual school regarding gown return policy).

Know Before You Graduate!

Graduates:

Please arrive no earlier than one hour before the graduation ceremony begins. If you plan to arrive early, please note that you will be waiting outside the building and should plan to bring a disposable or recyclable bottle of water (to be tossed upon entering through security). Any photos should be taken prior to graduate check-in, and tickets should be given to family members prior to arrival at the venue.

No water bottles or bags of any kind/size will be allowed inside. No family will be allowed in the graduate staging area.

Graduates will do a lot of walking on the day of their graduation and should wear shoes that they are comfortable walking and standing in for long periods of time.
