Teen Ambassadors

High school students in grades 9-11 attending public, private or home schools in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties and with an interest in the performing arts, journalism and marketing are invited to become Broward Center Teen Ambassadors. Previous Teen Ambassadors who are rising 12th graders may apply.

Students can earn community service hours as a Broward Center Teen Ambassador. The program runs from October through May.

Benefits of being a Broward Center Teen Ambassador include:

  • Attend free shows and create a portfolio of reviews and social media content.
  • Opportunity to earn community service hours each month.
  • Gain exposure to behind-the-scenes operations at an arts organization that is consistently ranked among the top 10 venues in the country.
  • Participate in master classes, backstage tours, and monthly meetings.
  • Learn from industry professionals about the various career tracks connected to the arts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend meetings and shows on school nights and weekends. Monthly meetings typically start at 6 p.m. Teen Ambassadors who arrive at a meeting 20+ minutes late will be considered absent. Teen Ambassadors are allowed to have up to 2 absences for the season. If more than 2 absences occur, the Teen Ambassador will be dismissed from the program and will not be eligible to reapply.
  • Actively participate in monthly meetings, by preparing quality questions to ask the guest speakers who are invited to discuss the business of the arts through the lens of their professional experience.
  • Each month: Attend shows of various genres. Promote upcoming shows and season series at the Broward Center and affiliated venues on social media. Publish reviews of shows attended. Reviews may be in the form of a social media video/reel, short-form video, podcast or written.
    • Teen Ambassadors are required to submit 2 social media reviews, 2 short-form video or podcast reviews, 2 written reviews, and 2 reviews in formats of choice. Ambassadors must fulfill these requirements to be eligible to apply for next year’s program.
  • Each month: Publish pre-show and show day posts on social media. Pre-show social content must be posted at least 48 hours prior to show day. Screen shots of published pre-show social media posts must be submitted to Mentor at least 48 hours prior to show day. Show-day social media posts and show reviews must be submitted to Mentor. Teen Ambassadors must fulfill these requirements to be eligible to apply for next year’s program.
  • Have a strong level of communication across multiple channels and be self-sufficient with submitting required materials on deadline.
  • Partnering with Mentors and fellow Teen Ambassadors to strategize how to spread the word on upcoming shows and discounted tickets for students.
  • Represent the Broward Center as a brand ambassador of the performing arts to the community and amongst peers, via social media channels and word-of-mouth communications.
  • Promote the experience of attending a show at the Broward Center and affiliated venues in social media posts and reviews.
  • Successfully promote amongst your peers shows held at the Broward Center, The Parker and affiliated venues via your social media channels, word-of-mouth, and published reviews – You are THE INFLUENCER!

All applicants for the Broward Center Teen Ambassador program must meet the following criteria in accordance with the Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Must be a high school student in grades 9-11 and reside in Broward, Palm Beach or Dade County as of August 2025. Previous Teen Ambassadors who are rising 12th graders may apply.
  • Must be willing and able to post on social media.
  • Must be willing and able to attend shows at the Broward Center and affiliated venues and submit monthly reviews and social posts to Mentor.
  • Must be willing to attend and review at least one Broadway, opera, dance, classical music, jazz, and family or family sensory inclusive performance.
  • Must be willing and able to attend monthly meetings at the Broward Center.
  • Must have a B average (unweighted).
  • Must have access to a computer and have at least one social media account (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, etc.) to promote and review performances.
  • Must have a working personal email account and the ability to send/receive text messages, including via WhatsApp for communication with the program administrators and mentors.

All applicants for the Broward Center Teen Ambassador Program must complete and submit the Broward Center Teen Ambassador Program application online by September 2, 2025. Mailed or in-person applications will not be accepted. Applications submitted by a parent or guardian on behalf of the applicant will not be considered. A parent or legal guardian must sign for any student under the age of 18.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance into the program via email by September 19, 2025, and will be expected to attend two activities (one show and one meeting) each month beginning with the mandatory orientation meeting on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. This meeting will take place at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
