"WEIRD AL” YANKOVIC TO BRING THE STRINGS ATTACHED TOUR

Published: May 9, 2019

FORT LAUDERDALE – “Weird Al” Yankovic has just announced the dates for his 2019 Strings Attached tour - a high-energy, rock and comedy show featuring costumes, props, a video wall, and - for the first time - a full orchestra. The event comes to the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, June 6 at 8 p.m.

For his 2018 Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour, Yankovic wanted to reward his hardcore fans with an intimate, scaled-down show that showcased a rotating setlist of semi-obscure deep-cut non-parody album tracks, many of which he and his band had never performed live before.  For his 2019 Strings Attached tour, he’s back to playing the hits and classics – but this time his band will be supported every night by background singers and an entire symphony orchestra.

According to Yankovic: “I wanted to follow up my most bare-bones tour ever with my most elaborate and extravagant tour ever. We’re pulling out all the stops for this one.”

Yankovic is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist in history, earning four Grammys® and fifteen career nominations. He is best known for his hilariously irreverent parodies of hit songs, including “Eat It,” “Like A Surgeon,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “Amish Paradise,” “White & Nerdy,” and “Tacky."

Yankovic’s 14th studio album Mandatory Fun (2014) made headlines when it became the first comedy album in history to debut at No.1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart, and the first comedy album to even reach the top of that chart in over 50 years. The single “Word Crimes” debuted in the Billboard Top 40, making him one of only four artists to have had Top 40 singles in each of the last four decades (the other three being Michael Jackson, Madonna and U2).

In addition to Yankovic’s cult-hit feature film UHF (1989), his late ‘90s CBS Saturday morning series The Weird Al Show and numerous AL-TV specials he has made for MTV and VH1 over the years, Yankovic has remained a staple of film and television, from appearances on The Simpsons, 30 Rock, The Goldbergs and How I Met Your Mother to performing live on the Primetime Emmy Awards and starring in his own concert specials for Disney, VH1 and Comedy Central.

In November 2017 Legacy Recordings released Squeeze Box: The Complete Works of “Weird Al” Yankovic, a remastered 15-disc box set (including a rarities album) plus a 120-page book of archival photos, all housed in a replica of Weird Al’s trademark accordion.  Other honors and recognitions include: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; Weird Al: The Book (Abrams), an illustrated hardcover on his life and career; and, in 2015, Yankovic becoming not only MAD Magazine’s cover boy, but the first guest editor in its 63-year history.

Tickets are $49.50-$95 with $129.50 tickets for the JetBlue Flight Deck on the Club Level and $289

VIP Weird Al Yankovic Meet & Greet Experience packages that include meeting the artist and other exclusives.
