BROWARD CENTER SPOTLIGHTS

Grades 6–12 | By audition only

This class meets weekly on Zoom and has been specially designed to provide the best possible virtual experience for your child. Virtual performance opportunities will also take place throughout the season.
 
The Broward Center Spotlights is a youth performing vocal ensemble perfect for students who love to sing. This audition-based musical theater program trains students to perform solos, duets and group numbers along with choreography for various Broward Center and community events. This session, Spotlights will create virtual vocal compilation videos, present livestream performances. Team-taught by a professional music director and choreographer, students gain top instruction in song and dance, musicianship, improved vocal technique and song interpretation while building dance skills and stage presence. Class fee includes a Broward Center Spotlights t-shirt.

Notes:
Once acceptance is announced, students must register for the Spotlights class at the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center. Classes are weekly from 9/12-11/21.

Students will be notified of acceptance by e-mail. Additional rehearsals/performances are scheduled as community appearances are booked. Class fees apply.

PERFORMANCE MENTOR PROGRAM: A CHRISTMAS CAROL, THE MUSICAL

*This is a hybrid class. The first part of the class starts with weekly Zoom meetings and concludes with in-person final performances in accordance with CDC and state safety regulations.  

Advanced techniques in acting, singing and dance are integrated into the rehearsal process and culminate in a full-length musical production. Join Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and a host of colorful characters for this traditional holiday tale. Especially adapted for family audiences, this musical production of the Charles Dickens classic is a wonderful way to celebrate the season with the entire family. In this unique theatrical experience, students learn from and then perform alongside adult professional actors in the Amaturo Theater. Fee includes script and costumes.

·         Preferred audition date and time on the hour (example: 8/31 at 6:00 PM)

Notes:

  • You will receive an e-mail confirming the date and time as well as information on what to prepare for the audition.
  • All auditions will be held via Zoom.
  • Students will be notified of acceptance by e-mail by 9/3.
  • Once accepted, students must register for the Performance Mentor Program: A Christmas Carol at the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center.
  • Students must be able to attend all rehearsals and show dates. 

ADVANCED MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP

Grades 4–12 | By audition only
Saturdays 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM | $360

This class meets weekly on Zoom and has been specially designed to provide the best possible virtual experience for your child.

In this advanced-level class, students develop their musical theater skills on a pre- professional level by strengthening techniques in singing, dancing and acting. Students participate in small group breakouts which focus on specific skills and provide the student intensive study with each teaching artist professional. In the acting breakout, students explore various acting methods, script analysis and how to create strong characters. The dance breakout includes stretching and flexibility work, as well as instruction in various musical theater dance styles. The singing breakout focuses on improving vocal technique, learning music theory and developing skills to build a backstory for your song. Students integrate these skills and gain confidence as a strong and engaging musical theater performers.

Auditions will be held during the final class for the Spring 2021 show-Title: TBD
