Our popular Sing! Dance! Act! class teaches students what it takes to be a triple threat on stage. Students focus on singing, dancing and acting while learning songs and choreography from a wide range of Broadway musicals. Team-taught by a professional music director and a professional choreographer, this class teaches students dance terms and steps, singing, voice and diction techniques. A variety of acting and improvisational activities allow students to explore all three performing arts disciplines. Family and friends are invited to a showcase at the end of the semester.

Musical theater skills are taken to the next level in this NEW advanced session of Sing! Dance! Act!  Through training in singing, dancing and acting, students learn scenes, songs and choreography from some of Broadway’s most popular shows. Team-taught by a professional music director, choreographer and acting coach, this class is the perfect progression for musical theater students who want to build and refine their performance skills in a professional environment. Family and friends are invited to a performance at the end of the session.

Prerequisite: Sing! Dance! Act! Beginner or Advanced level required or similar musical theater experience as assessed by instructor.

SING! DANCE! ACT! ADVANCED

AGES 9–14 YEARS

Musical theater skills are taken to the next level in this advanced session of Sing! Dance! Act! In addition to focused training in singing, dancing and acting, students learn scenes, songs and choreography in preparation for performance of an original children’s musical selected specifically for this class. Team-taught by a professional music director, choreographer and acting coach, this class is the perfect progression for musical theater students who want to build and refine their performance skills in a professional environment AND put on a show! Family and friends are invited to a performance at the end of the session.

Prerequisite: Sing! Dance! Act! Beginner or Advanced Level required or similar musical theater experience as assessed by instructor.

Broward Center Spotlights (Ages 10-17 years)
BY AUDITION ONLY

Additional rehearsals/performances are scheduled as community appearances are booked.

Broward Center Spotlights is a vocal ensemble perfect for students who love to perform. Past appearances include popular local events, television and community showcases, onstage shows and more. Taught by musical theater professionals, as well as guest instructors, students gain top-tier instruction in song and dance. Students develop greater musicianship, improving vocal technique and song interpretation, while building dance skills and stage presence. This class culminates in a final performance.

Class fee includes a Broward Center Spotlights t-shirt and two tickets to the final performance on the Amaturo Stage.

ACTING: MONOLOGUES AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT (AGES 9–12 YEARS)

MONDAYS 5:30–7 PM | $325

Class dates: 1/22-4/2
Skip Date: 3/26

This class is geared to help students learn the fundamentals of theatre.  Students will learn how to choose appropriate monologues, deconstruct them and break them apart both emotionally and physically to fully understand the character and the emotional arch. This class also helps students with confidence, audition interview preparation, improv and scene work as well as ensemble building.

BROADWAY DANCE - ALL LEVELS NEW! (AGES 9-12)

TUESDAY 5:45-6:45 PM| $300

Class dates:  1/16-3/20

Students focus on Broadway dance in this dynamic class taught by award-winning director/choreographer Ron Hutchins. This fun and energetic class teaches young dancers choreography from some of Broadway’s greatest shows. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn basic steps and terminology while embracing technique. No prior experience required.

YOUTH SPRING MUSICAL—FORMERLY PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP (AGES 9–14 YEARS)

MONDAYS 6–9 PM | $385

Show: SNOOPY!!! The Musical

Final performance: 4/16

Mandatory tech/dress rehearsals will be held on April 15.

In an all-encompassing theatrical experience, students learn acting, singing and dancing as well as production disciplines such as costumes, props, make-up and staging and use these skills to put on a final show.

SNOOPY!!! The Musical – the sequel to You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown – deserves each of its three exclamation points. Based on the beloved comic strip by Charles Schulz, the show sparkles with wit and warmth as it depicts life as seen through the eyes of the unforgettable Peanuts characters.

This class is offered in partnership with The Performance Project School of the Arts.
