The Broward Center Unwraps Two Holiday Treats For Young Performers

Published: Nov 18, 2016

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts has announced two special workshops that will add showbiz sparkle to the holidays for young students who love musical theater.

The Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella Day Camp on Saturday, December 17, for ages 7-11, offers professional song and dance instruction using music and choreography from the show, fun theater games, the opportunity to meet a cast member and a ticket to a performance of the Tony Award®-winning Broadway musical that’s delighting audiences with its contemporary take on the classic tale. The camp is held from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Registration is $150 and includes lunch.

The three-day Winter Song & Dance Intensive Workshop to be held January 3-5 focuses on developing performance skills in musical theater and preparing students ages 8 – 14 to sing in vocal and choral ensembles. Using repertoire from Broadway shows, students learn voice and dance techniques, improve skills in singing and sight reading, and gain confidence as soloists in a supportive and professional environment. On the final day, students present a showcase in the JM Family Studio Theater. The camp is held from 9 a.m. –5 p.m. each day. Registration for this three-day workshop is $185.
