DESCRIPTION:The entire history of music is filled with passing on what we love to the next generation—putting great music into the hands of tomorrow’s music makers, and letting them make it their own. After the overwhelming success of our inaugural year, we’re excited for this one-of-a-kind national competition to continue to grow. Four outstanding undergraduate conducting students from across the country will be given the opportunity to showcase their talent with the world-class Symphony of the Americas, performing a program of American classical and popular works for string orchestra. After a competitive application process, a panel of three guest judges—along with the audience, who will serve as the fourth judge—will help select the winner, who will receive a cash prize and a paid opportunity to perform in the following season, mentored by Maestro Luke.
