The State of American Foreign Policy
Jeffrey Morton, Ph.D., Professor of Political Science & Foreign Policy Association Fellow, FAU
In this special one-time lecture, Jeffrey Morton will provide an assessment of the current state of American foreign policy at the onset of President Trump’s third year in office. Key issues for consideration include North Korea, Russia, China, the evolving U.S. policy towards the Middle East and America’s relations with key allies.
Jeffrey S. Morton is professor of World Politics at FAU and a Fellow at the Foreign Policy Association. Morton received his master’s degree from Rutgers University, specializing in war studies, and his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina, specializing in international law with a concentration in U.S. foreign policy. He is the author of three books, numerous journal articles and book chapters, and has published on issues ranging from the legality of interventions and weapons of war to the United Nations, Israeli security and U.S. foreign policy. Morton has lectured nationally on matters relating to U.S. foreign policy, has contributed to articles in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal and delivers the annual Great Decisions lecture series to a live audience of 3,000. Morton is the recipient of the FAU Researcher of the Year Award, Talon Service Award, College Teacher of the Year and Master Teacher designation.
