Ahoy! Arrrrr you ready for a fun and exciting class? Your child’s favorite characters come to life through creative play in this introductory acting class. Kids imagine, explore and create as they act out their own stories and adventures each week based on a different book focusing on pirates, mermaids and sea adventures. Kids learn about story structure while increasing their vocabulary, self-esteem, creativity and problem-solving skills. Students learn to use their body, voice and imagination to save the world and create a happily ever after!

The dynamic world of musical theater is explored in this introductory skills-building class. Students develop the basics of singing, dance and acting while learning songs and choreography from a wide range of popular Broadway musicals in a supportive environment. Students are trained in stage direction, dance steps and terminology, as well as healthy vocal production including breathing techniques, matching pitch and singing in an ensemble. Family and friends are invited to an open class during the semester. Two sessions of this class are recommended.

SING! DANCE! ACT!

In this intermediate class, students build on previous experience in the core areas of musical theater performance―Singing, Dancing & Acting. Using contemporary and traditional musical theater material, students continue to develop musical theater skills such as: movement and choreography, healthy vocal production technique, character development and overall focus and stage presence. Sing! Dance! Act! may be taken more than once to develop existing talents and discover new ones!!

ACTING & IMPROV

Explore the “fun”damentals of acting and improv!  Students learn foundational acting and improv skills and explore how to use their bodies, voices and minds to create characters and imaginary circumstances.  Through interactive warm-ups and skills- building activities, students develop their improv and acting techniques as they build confidence and stretch their imagination.  This class will strengthen social interactions and develop effective listening and communication skills. All levels welcome.

YOUTH FALL MUSICAL: DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL JR.

In an all-encompassing theatrical experience, students learn acting, singing and dancing as well as production disciplines such as costumes, props, make-up and staging and use these skills to put on a final show. Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life on your stage with Disney’s High School Musical JR. Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities. This class is offered in partnership with The Performance Project School of the Arts. Fee includes script and basic costume.

See your child perform in a new and exciting show selected specifically for their age and skill level! Journey of the Noble Gnarble is the story of a little gnarble with a big dream who travels along the ocean floor while meeting challenges along the way. This show teaches the importance of positivity and determination! Team-taught by a professional vocal instructor and a professional choreographer, this performance class allows young students to explore the basics of acting, singing and dancing while experiencing the process of auditions, rehearsals and putting on scenes and songs from a show. Kids create wonderful memories on stage in the JM Family Studio Theater while having fun! Fee includes script and basic costume.

PERFORMANCE MENTOR PROGRAM: ELF THE MUSICAL

Advanced techniques in acting, singing and dance are integrated into the rehearsal process and culminate in a full-length musical production. This unique performance experience offers students to study and perform alongside adult professional actors. Based on the beloved holiday film, this hilarious fish-out-of-water comedy follows Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity. This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. After all, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear. Fee includes script and costumes. This class is offered in partnership with The Performance Project School of the Arts.

ADVANCED MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP:
MTI'S ALL TOGETHER NOW! - A GLOBAL EVENT CELEBRATING LOCAL THEATRE

In this advanced-level class, students develop their musical theater skills on a pre-professional
level by strengthening techniques in singing, dancing and acting. Each week students will focus
on specific skills and receive intensive study with each teaching artist professional. Students
explore various acting methods, script analysis and how to create strong characters. For dance,
students will work on stretching and flexibility as well as study various musical theater dance
styles. The singing instruction focuses on expanding healthy vocal technique, learning music
theory and developing skills to build a character for your song. Students integrate these skills
and gain confidence as a strong and engaging musical theater performers. This class will
culminate with a performance in November of All Together Now! - A Global Event Celebrating
Local Theatre.

ULTIMATE THEATER DANCE

Ultimate Theater Dance is the exploration of traditional and contemporary Broadway dance styles that include elements of ballet, jazz and modern dance. This intermediate-level class will focus on core fundamental exercises and technical steps while introducing new and challenging movement styles. Basic dance skills recommended.

MUSICAL THEATER SINGING

GRADES: 4–12 | $325
TUESDAYS 7:00 - 8:15PM

Class dates: Sep 14 – Nov 16

This group singing class is perfect for students who love show tunes. Students learn songs from some of Broadway's greatest composers while focusing on healthy vocal and breathing techniques, creating a character through song, and developing overall stage presence. Basic music theory and sight-reading instruction are included. All levels are welcome as students will sing in group numbers and explore their specific skill level through solos and duets. Family and friends are invited to a musical showcase at the end of the session.
