Play your part.
Ushers are an important part of every performance. You’ll help welcome our audiences, make them feel at home, and ensure that everything runs smoothly from lights up to curtains down.
Orientation
Volunteer ushers must attend an orientation session prior to their first shift. Once the Volunteer Office receives your application, they will contact you to schedule your orientation.
Bring $10 to your orientation to cover nametag, bowtie and carrying case costs
Park in the employee parking lot behind the Broward Center and check in at the Stage Door
New volunteers will be eligible to start ushering immediately after completing orientation. Students receive volunteer credit for ushering.
Time Commitment
Volunteer ushers must be available year round. If you cannot make this commitment, please do not apply.
Volunteer ushers commit to one matinee or evening shift per week. The theater schedule varies but ushers should be prepared to make a weekly commitment for the entire season. Ushers may sign up to work extra performances as well.
Apparel
Ushers must purchase or provide their own uniforms and wear them to every shift. Uniforms consist of a white tuxedo shirt, black pants or skirt, comfortable solid black shoes with no ornamentation, bowtie ($5 at orientation), and a nametag and carrying case ($5 at orientation).
